We finally made it to Montevideo, Uruguay and you will not believe what just happened or maybe you will. We deplaned after a nine hour flight from Miami and headed to customs/immigration.
As we approached the line I pulled out my passport and got into line. At that moment nature was calling and we took a detour to the bathroom. The next 40 feet changed the course or our adventure.
I arrived back in line to find that my passport was missing. I could not believe my eyes. I looked throughout my backpack, my pants, my backpack, my pants, my backpack and to my utter dismay it was missing. To make a long story shorter we talked with security, hospitality, and the US embassy.
The embassy could issue me and emergency passport but I would have to show up in person and that would mean leaving the airport. Since I can't even come into the country I can't leave the airport. The embassy said "we can't help you" and now we have been sequestered into the VIP lounge.
They are telling us we may be put on a flight at 11:00 pm this evening but we are completely in the dark. If we do get on a flight will I be
let back into the US without a passport? God only knows how this is going to work out. Once again I am reminded how little of life is in your control.
No Bueno...
May no bueno!
Praying for you!
Well we know how this situation ended, but not sure how. So glad you're in country. Let us know how the rest of the day went.
