Hola,
We picked up a rental car at the airport and drove up the coast toward Brazil. We could not have had better weather. We arrived at our first destination in a little coastal village called Punta Colorada. But it came with some adventure.

The directions we not clear and we ended up on what we thought was a very narrow road. In fact I have driven on similar roads in Ireland but this was not that. We found ourselves at a dead end with some folks telling us that we are on a pedestrian path. Of course they spoke little English and after a month of school we could barely speak the words of a first grader. The folks were super helpful and got us going in the right direction. Thankfully we arrived at our BnB and had a great couple of days relaxing and strolling on the beach.

Our next AirBnB was in the village of Costal Azul near the town of La Paloma. This house was right on the beach. We could not have picked a more scenic spot. We took many walks along the beach and spent time in town window shopping. We have been very surprised at how nice the beaches are here. They are sandy and wide with lots of shells to look at. These little beach towns have reminded us of the small beach towns in New Zealand.

After three days we left and headed to our last BnB stopping along the way to check out the little beach towns that dot the coast. We arrived in Punta del Diablo at our last accommodation, a Bed & Breakfast. Again the beaches are huge with white sand stretching for miles and miles.

We spent a couple of days walking the beaches and visiting a nearby National Park. In the park was Fortaleza Saínt Teresa. It was established in 1762 by the Portuguese to defend against the Spanish. It has been renovated over the years and was very interesting to see.
We met a couple (Patrick and Birgitta) from the Netherlands, who are staying at our Bed & Breakfast. We had breakfast together and spent the evening getting to know each other over a nice dinner.

We arrived at the airport after taking our last morning walk on the beach and visiting Margo at the school in Punta del Este. We are looking forward to being home but we did find that Uruguay is a beautiful country full of wonderful people.

Adios,
Scott and Sarah
Once again, thank you *so much* for allowing us to tag along on one of your adventures!
